Challenge

The Virtuora Network Controller (VNC) had an overwhelming and cluttered user interface; its dated visuals and inconsistent workflows made it difficult for network engineers to work efficiently.

Approach

  • Led a team of 2 designers + 1 intern

  • Conducted deep UX audits, workflow mapping & stakeholder interviews

  • Restructured IA, prioritized critical user flows (Topology, Service Design, Alarms)

  • Introduced modular layouts, cleaner hierarchies & consistent patterns

Results

✨ Simplified 30+ screens into a focused, intuitive interface

⏱️ Reduced task time by ~40% on key flows (based on internal reviews)

📈 Helped improve dev-designer handoff & stakeholder alignment

📈 Design system adopted by 2 more tools in Fujitsu’s suite

Leadership Moves

✅ Delegated modules by strength, built a Figma library for consistency

✅ Balanced stakeholder pushback with team well-being (aka shielded the crew when needed)

✅ Pushed back on legacy “engineering-first” habits to advocate for user-first solutions

Learnings

Enterprise design isn’t glamorous, but it’s gritty and satisfying. This project taught me that empathy looks different in B2B UX; it’s about saving professionals' time, mental load, and daily frustration. Not pretty buttons, but smart systems.

This is just a glimpse, the full story runs much deeper. It's sensitive work and honestly, some work is too meaningful to just leave on the internet. Reach out and I'll take you through the whole thing!
