The Type Project
Typography · Interaction Design · Motion Design · Mobile UI · Figma Prototyping
Overview
This project reimagined the traditional type specimen poster as an interactive mobile experience. The goal was to design a Type Persona App that visually expresses a typeface’s character through motion, hierarchy, and interactivity, bridging typography and UX design.
Approach
Starting from a selected typeface persona, I mapped how its personality could influence interface elements such as rhythm, motion, and spacing. I created grid-based layouts for character displays and tested transitions for clarity. The UX Honeycomb guided usability and desirability, while peer feedback refined hierarchy and interaction flow.
Results
The final app allows users to explore glyphs, view character weights, and test custom words in the chosen typeface. Interaction micro-animations echo the typeface’s personality - smooth, structured, and expressive. Accessibility considerations ensured readable contrast and consistent tap zones.
Learnings
This project taught me how visual tone and brand personality can be embedded into functional UX systems. It helped me merge typographic storytelling with digital interaction, strengthening my ability to translate emotion into interface behavior.
